Prodigy Learning announce first round of finalists for MOS UK Championships. The competition is still open, and further details on entry can be found below.
We often speak of the need for digital, 21st century skills in today's employment market, and one of the ways that students can demonstrate their capabilities and enhance their prospects is through earning Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Certifications.
With the IDC finding that skills in Office are in the top three attributes that employers look for in candidates, there is every reason for students to gain a qualification in this area to support any applications they make.
As well as offering MOS Certifications, our partners at Prodigy Learning also run the MOS UK Championships, which form part of the annual MOS World Championships, a global competition that tests students' skills on Microsoft Office applications. Split into two qualifying rounds, the UK Championships will see 20 students competing in the national finals held here at Microsoft's UK headquarters in Reading.
Nine students from England & Wales have already secured their place in the UK finals from the first qualifying round, and they will be joined by a further nine from the second qualifying round (which is still open), as well as the two top students from this year's inaugural MOS Scotland competition.
Please join us in congratulating the following students, who have earned their place in the MOS UK Championship finals:
- Esme Spry (Gloucester High School for Girls)
- Georgia Haigh (Gloucester High School for Girls)
- Harmish Mehta (London School of Economics and Political Science)
- Isobel Baldwin (Gloucester High School for Girls)
- Logan Cooper (Ormiston Park Academy)
- Megan Rayner (Gloucester High School for Girls)
- Molly Wilde (Bournemouth School for Girls)
- Sarah Gunenc (Lodge Park Academy)
- Taylor Neal (Bournemouth School for Girls)
Andrew Flood (CEO, Prodigy Learning) commented:
"I'd like to congratulate each of the Finalists and their schools / teachers. It is a fantastic achievement. We'd like to thank all who participated so far and encourage all eligible schools, colleges and universities to use the Second Qualifying Round and new Scottish Championship as an opportunity to have their students join this elite group at the National Final in June."
We look forward to welcoming them to our Microsoft UK headquarters in June 2016, where they will compete with other students for the title of MOS UK Champion, and the opportunity to represent the UK at the final round of the MOS World Championships at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida from August 7th to 10th (and compete for a $7,500 prize).
