Experiencing Data Latency for Multiple Functional Areas - 02/20 - Resolved

We've confirmed that all systems are back to normal with no customer impact as of 02/20, 12:00 UTC. Our logs show the incident started on 02/20, 03:30 UTC and that during the 8 and a half hours that it took to resolve the issue some customers experienced data latency across data types.
  • Root Cause: The Failure was due to one of the dependent platform service which was impacting Application Insights Processing Service.
  • Lessons Learned: We have collected required telemetry data and will be working with the platform team to plan for future enhancements to avoid the current situation.
  • Incident Timeline: 8 Hours & 30 minutes - 02/20, 03:30 UTC through 02/20, 12:00 UTC
We understand that customers rely on Application Insights as a critical service and apologize for any impact this incident caused.

Root cause has been isolated to failures with dependent service which was impacting Application Insights processing service. Processing service is now working as expected. Some customers may experience data latency over 2 hours and we estimate 6 before all latent data is processed.

We are aware of issues within Application Insights and are actively investigating. Some customers may experience Data Latency. The following data types are affected: Customer Event,Dependency,Exception,Metric,Page Load,Page View,Performance Counter,Request,Trace.
