EduTECH 2017 is just around the corner!

EduTECH International Congress and Expo 2017 is now just around the corner!

There’s going to be so much happening at the biggest education event in Asia Pacific and the Southern Hemisphere. FutureSchools Expo was an inspiring event and we expect EduTECH to be even bigger and better!

Come to the Microsoft Stand where we’ll be running live demonstrations on a wide range of topics in the breaks on Day 1 and 2. If you can’t make it in person follow along on Twitter where we’ll be live streaming these sessions.

Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert, Simon Harper will be hosting several EduTECH TeachMeet sessions over the two days.

  • Thursday 8th June 11:20am – 11:55am (35 minutes)
  • Thursday 8th June 4:30pm – 5:30pm (1 hour)
  • Friday 9th June 11:20am – 11:55am (25 minutes)

This is your chance to share a short talk with the group on what strategies you’ve been using to enhance learning. Teachers will walk away with ideas to use in the classroom, a new colleague to bounce ideas off and a bit of inspiration. Find out more about the TeachMeet sessions.

Ray Fleming, Education Industry Lead, Microsoft – Disruptive Technologies – What’s Now and Next for Education (30 min)
With the advent of powerful cloud computing and changing environments, how will emerging and future technologies impact on school based IT, teaching, learning and even buildings and learning spaces? In this session, Ray Fleming, Microsoft Education Industry lead, will explore the technology you have now, and what’s likely to transform the education sector in the coming years – including prescriptive analytics; mixed reality technologies like Hololens; IoT (internet of things); Azure cognitive services and much more.

Dan Bowen, STEM Lead, Microsoft – Building STEM in your school with Minecraft: Education Edition and beyond (30 min)
In this session Dan Bowen, Microsoft Australia’s STEM lead, makes STEM come alive in your classroom. Explore the use of Minecraft: Education Edition to allow students to collaborate and create to improve their learning outcomes at school. Discover the latest tools to help kids code devices such as Micro:bit and AdaFruit. Learn more about other Microsoft tools that can help you develop problem solving, computational thinking and creativity around STEM in the classroom. Underpinning all this is our professional development opportunities to support schools exploring STEM, including our industry level courses and official certifications for students and staff in the Imagine Academy suite.

Travis Smith, Teacher Engagement Manager, Microsoft, Cathy Cavanaugh, Head of Leadership, Learning and Research | Digital Transformation, Catholic Education WA (CEWA) – Creating collaborative classrooms – Spotlight on CEWA (30 min)
Travis Smith, Microsoft’s Teacher Engagement Manager, will explore the Office 365 for Education platform and what’s new – including Microsoft Teams. Classroom experiences will make Teams a digital hub for teachers and students by adding features specifically designed for teaching and learning. Cathy Cavanaugh, Head of Leadership, Learning, Research and Digital Transformation, at Catholic Education WA (CEWA), will show how Office 365 for Education offers a broad and deep toolkit for content creation, collaborative classrooms, and personalised learning. Cathy will share how Teams is key to the success of the CEWA Leading Lights project.

Lee Sabow, Windows Education Product Marketing Lead, Microsoft Corporation
Hear from Lee Sabow, the  about all that’s new in Windows, and why deploying Windows devices at your school is about to become so much easier. Attend this session to learn more about the Windows 10 Creators Update, mixed reality for schools, our new device range for all students with a variety of learning styles, and the recently announced Windows 10 S.

MIE Expert Masterclasses / Sessions:

Tina Russell will be presenting a Masterclass on Igniting Whole-School Pedagogical Shift Towards Future Focused Learning:

  • Using evidence-based analysis and measures to drive future focussed learning
  • Inspiring pedagogical change through frameworks such as Microsoft 21CLD and The Essential Fluencies to enhance quality teaching and learning
  • Generating whole-school support through Professional Learning Communities

Anne Mirtschin will be presenting on Friday at 10:10am on The Connected Classroom:

  • Inspiring (and amazing) classroom stories of connected global classrooms
  • Creating connected classrooms with the innovative use of technology
  • Tips for success, overcoming challenges, where to find experts/classrooms/teachers to connect with
