Today's MIEE Spotlight is shining brightly on PE Teacher, Allan Thomson. Allan is an innovative teacher at, Microsoft Showcase School St Mungo's High School in Falkirk, Scotland.
Allan is passionate about the impact that technology can have on our young people in the classroom, to prepare them for the skills they need for learning, life and work. He uses a wide variety of Office 365 tools available through GLOW, Scotland's online digital portal.
Allan has shown great expertise in using OneNote Class Notebook in his Physical Education classes. Being a teacher of PE, some wouldn't think that technology would be able to be embedded in easily, however Allan has proven that effective use of technology in PE can really enhance the learning taking place in the classroom. In his Scottish Football Association Practical Refereeing Course, Allan uses OneNote to collaborate with his pupils and share course content. His pupils love that they no longer have to carry about multiple folders, easily lose their class and home work! They can access all of this class content via OneNote, on any device. Allan uses Microsoft Forms to assess homework and Course modules and loves the fact that he can critically analyse the class' learning easily and quickly to inform next steps in learning.
As well as this Allan is passionate about supporting teachers in his local community. He readily gives his time up to go to Primary Schools and Universities, to support them in their use of Office 365 within GLOW.
